Nelly Korda has had one of the best seasons so far. Apart from earning $3.7 million on course, and bagging the first position in the CME Points Rank, she has managed to make eleven cuts out of the fourteen events that she appeared in. Additionally, she has won a total of six tournaments on the LPGA Tour this year.
The last event that she was a part of was the Kroger Queen City Championship in September. She finished with a T5. It has almost been a month that the World No. 1 female golfer has not appeared on the greens, and well, she will not be appearing in the following weeks either. But why is it so?
Nelly Korda cited a minor neck injury
The 26-year-old LPGA Tour pro had to withdraw from the BMW Championship, which is scheduled to begin on Thursday. She will not be appearing a the Maybank Championship either in the following week. Korda was already taking her share of rest after her last appearance to enter the BMW Ladies Championship.
However, during the practice, she ended up having a minor neck injury. “I’m currently resting and working with my team to get better,” Korda said in an Instagram story. The LPGA requires players to play 70 rounds to be eligible for the Vare Trophy for the lowest scoring average. The American professional in all probability will appear only twice more.
This will leave her short of the minimum appearances. She will only be eligible would be to play all four tournaments left on the schedule after Malaysia. Those are in Japan, Hawaii and two in Florida. That seems to be a far-fetched dream for her this season.
