The PGA Tour has reached Las Vegas for its upcoming event. The 2024 Shriners Children’s Open is scheduled from October 17 to October 20. While some of the top PGA Tour pros like Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy will not be a part of the field, it still has some of the up-and-rising stars like Tom Kim, Viktor Hovland, and other players.
Even the Korn Ferry Tour players will appear at the upcoming event. It will be hosted at the TPC Summerlin Golf Course in Nevada. It is the only venue that hosts Tour events in Las Vegas. The course was the brainchild of Bobby Weed, a renowned architect, who started creating golf courses by transforming his father’s soybean field into a driving range when he was a teenager.
There was no looking back for him ever since. Weed pursued agronomy in college and began working as an assistant golf course superintendent at Amelia Island Plantation. Two years after grabbing all the knowledge from the post, he became the superintendent of the TPC Sawgrass, which has been hosting the PLAYERS Championship ever since its inaugural edition.
He worked so dedicatedly that he soon became the construction superintendent for all the courses involved with the TPC Network. The featured holes are in succession to close out the round. The 15th, 16th, 17th, and 18th are the course’s signature spots, with the 15th starting things off with a 320-yard par-four. The 16th is a par-five, the 17th hole is another par-three (roughly 200 yards), and the 18th is a 450-yard par-four. The course is a par-72, 7,243-yard location.
