Golfing legends Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy have come together to create their brainchild called the TGL. However, it went through a lot of hurdles before it could come into action. To begin with, its opening was delayed by a year, from January 2024 to January 2025. This was because of the damage to the Florida area where the league was scheduled.
There was a power outage, followed by a windstorm, which caused the roof of the SoFi Center to collapse at PBSC’s Palm Beach Gardens Campus. The damage was too extensive to repair quickly, and the delay would have caused scheduling issues for players and television.
The league also considered other factors, including short-term solutions, construction timelines, player schedules, and the primetime sports television calendar. But well, it looks like the wait for the newly formed league is finally over. TGL then unveiled plans to construct a steel-supported structure in March 2024, thus ensuring that its latest launch would go off as scheduled.
If Mother Nature finally decides not to play another trick in the sunshine city, the plan is for the 2025 TGL season to kick off on Tuesday, Jan. 7, and commence with playoff-like finals on Tuesday, Mar. 25.
Matches will take primarily place on Monday and Tuesday evenings and air on either ESPN or ESPN2. Each match will take two hours and feature three of four players from each roster.
The official account of the PGA Tour, partnering with TGL Golf and Tiger Woods took to their official Instagram account a few hours ago, and shared the entire schedule. This was done along with the captains of each of the teams. And well, there is no doubt in the fact that the entire golf community is eagerly waiting for it to kick start.
