The last leg of the 2024 PGA Tour season kickstarts in just a few hours. The FedEx Playoffs, the deciding factor of the Playoffs began two weeks ago in Scotland. The Player of the Season will finally be declared on Sunday. At the St. Jude Championship in Memphis, the Japanese PGA Tour Pro Hideki Matsuyama took home 2000 FedEx Cup points and a whopping $3.6 million. He defeated Xander Schauffele and Viktor Hovland by two strokes.

Nonetheless, it was still Scottie Scheffler who entered the Castle Pines with a lead on the FedEx Cup standings because of his outstanding performance throughout the season. But, at Memphis, he bagged a fourth-position finish, one stroke behind his biggest competitor of the year – Xander Schauffele. The BMW Championship trophy last weekend was lifted by the 2025 USA Team Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley. He defeated Sam Burns, Adam Scott, and Ludvig Aberg by just one stroke.

Well, the standings remain the same as the top 30 players on the standings heading to the East Lake for their showdown of the season. Scottie Scheffler is in the lead with 6615 points, and Xander Schauffele is right behind him at 5422 points. They are at a difference of 1193 points, making them the only contenders for winning the 2024 Player of the Year title. While considering performances throughout the season, Scheffler has an upper hand, and Xander Schauffele has had a better run at the Playoffs.

Well, not to forget, that East Lake has not been very friendly with Scottie Scheffler, and Xander Schauffele, he has had only top-10 finishes. But the question is, what will make it possible for the No. 2 to grab a victory? Well, if at the Tour Championship he ends up winning the trophy, which will grab him 2000 points, and if of course, Scheffler fails to bag the top-3 finish alongside. If that does not happen, the winner is pretty much clear.
