LIV Golf has taken up a great initiative. The Breakaway League took to its official Instagram account a few hours ago and announced its partnership with the United Nations Refugee Agency. “We are delighted to announce a ground-breaking partnership with The United Nations Refugee Agency (@refugees),” they wrote in the caption.
It is going to be the first time that the world of golf has witnessed such a partnership. It will give out an innovative Sport-for-protection program all across the globe for the refugees and people who are internally displaced, lending a hand of help to the hosting communities as well.
“There are over 122 million people who have had to flee their homes due to conflict and persecution. Sport for Protection is seen as a vital resource to improve psycho-social wellbeing, social inclusion, and individual wellbeing,” added LIV Golf.

Their partnership with the UNHCR will help them go beyond the regular norms of the golfing community and support almost a million of the world’s population that have had to move their houses due to reasons beyond their control. “This is the first time the UN Refugee Agency has partnered with a golf league, and we couldn’t be more humbly excited to begin this journey together,” they concluded on the post.
They will commit $10 million of funding to a partnership with UNHCR, which will be channeled into Sport for Protection programs with the principal aim of positively impacting up to 1 million forcibly displaced people.
