Saturday was the day for Keith Mitchell. He went completely bogey free at the penultimate round of the 2024 Sanderson Farms Championship. Carding two birdies on the front nine, and five on the back nine, he finished with an impressive 7-under 65, taking the solo lead. While a lot of the players have their focus towards the trophy, strategically trying to win the game, it looks like Mitchell has other priorities.
Keith Mitchell has his fantasy football lineup first
Keith Mitchell has gone in the 60s in all the three rounds at Mississippi. This has led his score to be 20-under overall. He was earlier at the third position as he entered the Saturday round. However, due to his exceptional performance, he was asked what he had in his mind and how he prepared himself emotionally for the final round.
“I definitely need to set my fantasy football lineup,” he replied. “I haven’t done that yet. I picked some guys off the waiver wire, and I gotta get it in before I tee off tomorrow. If I can do that, then I might actually go hit a few balls just to groove it because it felt good. Then I’ll just do my normal routine tomorrow.”
He has been able to grab only one win on the PGA Tour, which was five years ago, at the Honda Classic. He managed to bag a 54-hole lead at the Valspar Championship this year, but ended up finishing with a disappointing T17, after shooting a 77 on Sunday. This might be a close call to grab his second victory on the Tour.
