The biggest topic in the world of golf? Whether the PGA Tour and the LIV Golf will ever emerge? The community has been in tatters ever since the inception of the Greg Norman-led league, and the top players have been divided.
The PGA Tour came up with a $3 billion investment agreement to fund the new for-profit entity, PGA Tour Enterprises. The nonprofit 9/11 Families United criticized the merger, saying that Saudi operatives. The deadline was supposed to be December 31, 2023.
However, it has been almost a year since the deadline, but there has been no advancement in the agreement, even though all the members are reportedly on to the discussion. But as it turns out, Donald Trump might have a rather huge claim regarding it.
Is Donald Trump on a mission?
President-elect Donald Trump, known for his bold claims, once said it would take him only 15 minutes to resolve the ongoing dispute between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf’s Saudi investors. This was followed after a significant four-hour golf game with PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan at Trump International Golf Club in Florida.
The next day, Trump attended a UFC heavyweight championship event in New York alongside Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Yasir al-Rumayyan, the governor of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which backs LIV Golf. This connection further fueled speculation about Trump’s potential role in mediating the PGA Tour-LIV Golf dispute, a conflict that has divided the golfing world.
Trump’s involvement, spanning both informal talks on the course and public appearances with key figures from both sides, has placed him at the center of discussions. Whether his claims of quick resolution hold merit remains to be seen, but his proximity to the key players signals an intriguing dynamic in the sport’s ongoing saga.
Jay Monahan and al-Rumayyan played golf together in the Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland last month on the European tour. But when asked if there had been any discussion, both of them denied giving out any information regarding it. Well, that was not all for Donald Trump’s ongoing speculation that he might be on to a plan, and there might soon be hopes of a merger finally happening.

After the recent commotions, as it turns out, the POTUS hosted PGA Tour champion Dustin Johnson at Trump International Golf Course Wednesday. Well, they were not alone. Even his brother Austin Johnson was invited to play a round. He shared the picture on his official Instagram account.
“A beauty there, sir,” Austin said. “Right down the middle.” In the video, the Dustin brothers were seen watching Donald Trump take his practice swings before they got into the match and took an exceptional stroke and the ball went flying without any disruption straight into the hole.
It has not even been a week to the trio getting on to the golf match, that Donald Trump invited PGA Tour Pros Sam Burns and Nick Dunlap to the Trump International Golf Course for a game of eighteen holes. Even NUCLR Golf shared pictures of them on their official X account and wrote, “PGA TOUR golfers Sam Burns & Nick Dunlap take to social media to share that they played a round with President-elect Donald Trump today in Florida.”
Well, Donald Trump has indeed played golf with other pros earlier too. But not in such an intensity. So could he really be on a mission to finally make the merger happen? What are your thoughts on this? Let us know in the comments section below!
