Λ‡The Constellation FURYK & FRIENDS Tournament of the PGA Champions concluded a few hours ago on October 6. American professional Rocco Mediate carded three bogeys, and four birdies to compensate for the bogeys on Sunday.

He finished with a score of 1-under 71, tying with Bob Estes. This led to a playoff at the par-4 18th hole between the two. While Estes ended with a bogey at the playoff, Mediate won by carding a par-4 shot in the hole from the green.

Rocco Mediate bags fifth win on the PGA Champions Tour

The 61-year-old golfer became the fourteenth oldest player to win on the Champions Tour. Additionally, this also marked the fourteenth win of his career, making it the fifth win on the PGA Champions Tour. He had bagged wins at the Sanford International (2019), Senior PGA Championship (2016), Shaw Charity Classic (2013), and Allianz Championship (2013), earlier on the circuit.

At the post-round presser after the Sunday round, Rocco Mediate dedicated his win to his nine-year-old daughter Francesca. He said, “Amazing. Like I said it was for the little one. Gets her a little trophy which is cool just to win anything, and this is one of our best events for sure.”

Speaking about the playoff with Estes, he also added, β€œI expect that. You expect that. I even told Pete, to expect this to go in, and it did. To make that one, I mean, I don’t know what you can call it, just read it a little offside right and it moved. I hit it. That’s what it did. It was never going to be short. The putts in regulation I hit exactly like I wanted.”
