Emotional Triumph: Steven Alderson Secures First G4D Tour Win in Spain

Australian Golfer Steven Alderson bagged his first victory on the G4D Tour. After clinching the trophy at the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters to become the first autistic winner in G4D Tour history, he was seen fighting back tears.

He entered the second round at the Real Club de Golf Sotogrande having a two-shot lead. However, the round went so well, that he ended up winning by a whopping nine-stroke lead. He was at a 7-under 70. Widely regarded as Spur, the Aussie professional was in full confidence having bagged a win at the South Australian All Abilities Championship by three shots in September.

While he might be an outstanding player with a handicap of 1.4, the journey sure has not been easy for him. The 45-year-old is still suffering from autism, trying to battle through all the odds. At the post-round presser in Spain, he shared how he was bullied growing up due to his problem. He is glad that he could answer back all the people that thought less of him.

“Growing up as a kid and being bullied all the time at school and even bullied at other golf clubs, it just means the world”, added an emotional Alderson. He even added how proud he is, coming out victorious, and being on top of the world.

Alderson will now have another chance to travel the world after earning his place at the season-ending G4D Tour Series Finale @ DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, and he was quick to thank those who had helped him on his journey.
