Justin Thomas gives a new name to his relationship with Max Homa

Max Homa and Justin Thomas are often regarded as having a rather comic relationship on the course. They were also paired with each other for the final round of the BMW Championship on Sunday. While JT carded a 68, and finished with a T39, tying with Stephan Jaeger, Max Homa carded a 67 and finished with a T33.

However, given Thomas was already above Homa on the standings, he made it to the rank 30 on the list and will be appearing at the Tour Championship this weekend. However, Homa missed his chance of playing at the East Lake since he dropped down to a 46. As their round together came to an end, during the post-round presser, JT was asked about his experience playing with Homa.

He revealed how they are bluntly honest with each other as competitors and they are pretty much openly trying to beat each other. He even called their relationship a new name. JT said, “Max and I have always been close but we’ve somehow become closer, and I think we’re kind of- we call each other kind of “accountabilibuddies.”

Although Justin Thomas has indeed qualified to play at the Tour Championship, one thing is settled – the run for the Player of the Year is only between two people – Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele. While Scheffler stands tall at No. 1 with 6615 points, making it impossible to defeat him, even if someone else won the Tour Championship. However, only if Xander Schauffele wins, and Scheffler drops down below the top 10, just like the BMW Championship, there are probabilities that Schauffele will take the win!
