All is well, that ends well. This is pretty much what Alex Noren has been abiding by through the past three days. The 42 YO golfer has been playing in professional golf tournaments since 2005. Almost two decades and still no win for the Swedish player? However, looks like the roads might take a turn for him this time.
Alex Noren carded a 70 last Sunday at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, finishing at T30 on the leaderboard. He was tied with Russell Henley, and Justin Thomas. His top-30 finish bagged him a 22nd position on the standings, making him one among the top-50 players eligible to compete at the BMW Championship.
Alex Noren made tables turn on Saturday
Noren entered the Playoffs at the 45th position. Well, looks like he did indeed make most use of the opportunity. Noren opened the Thursday round with a birdie, and smoothly went across carding only one bogey throughout. She scored a total of four bogeys, and ten birdies in the first two rounds and entered the penultimate round with a top-5 finish.
However, the Saturday round had a rather scary opening for the 42 YO PGA Tour Pro. Carding even pars on the first two holes, he ended up carding a double bogey on the third hole. Adding to the misery, this was followed by a 15ft bogey on the 200 yards fourth hole. One thing was certain, if the momentum continued to go on like this, he surely would drop down the leaderboard, reducing his chances of grabbing the first win.
This was when he buckled up, carding his first series of birdies on the eighth hole. As he opened the back nine with a 2-over 38, Noren caught up with his pace. He not only opened them with a birdie on the 10th hole, but also ended the round with back-to-back three birdies. He ended up scoring 2-under 70.
Alex Noren is currently tied with Ludvig Aberg at 10-under, only two strokes behind Keegan Bradley. If he follows the back nine momentum, grabbing the trophy will be a cake walk for him on Sunday. And even if he does not, one thing is certain, the 42 YO has already made it to the Tour Championship next weekend!
