“Golf is evolving, every day, every shot”, said the Tiger of the sport. From Jack Nicklaus’ reign, who was dubbed the Golden Bear, to Tiger Woods’ taking over the golfing greens with his sheer consistency. To now, Scottie Scheffler keeping a good grip on the top of the OWGR list, the history of the sport goes way back!

While every golfer has his own story to tell, just like the distinction in the golf swings, they leave behind their legacy. While some become like the eagle, rare, but never forgotten, others become the ace, a little easier to get a grip of. But it is only the legends that write history.

From Tiger Woods to Greg Norman: The Stars of Golf

Let’s have a look at the golfers that entered the greens, and remained unbeatable throughout. Here’s a list of five of them:

  1. Tiger Woods:

While Mr. T might not possess the prowess to be on the top if you judge him by his recent performances (two missed cuts, one withdrawal, and a 60 finish at the Masters), he used to rule the sport back in the 1990s and 2000s. With a record of winning fifteen Majors in his career and a total of 82 career wins, he has the second-highest number of Major wins. He invented the Tiger Slam, having won all four majors at one point or the other!

  1. Jack Nicklaus:

Jack Nicklaus is the global ambassador of golf, due to his consistency and influence on the sport. The 84 YO golfer has won eighteen Majors in his life, which is recorded to be the highest number of times a player has ever taken over the trophy. Apart from having 73 career wins, he has also dedicated his experience to continue designing golf courses. He has over 400 courses under his design, some of which are also ranked to be one of the best courses in the world.

  1. Arnold Palmer

Late Arnold Palmer, who passed away back on September 25, 2016, played golf professionally for an extended period of fifty-two years. Over which, he had participated in 703 events, and won 62 of them! This includes his seven Major Championship wins. He even has a signature championship under his name called the Arnold Palmer Invitational on the PGA Tour!

  1. Phil Mickelson:

Phil Mickelson, widely regarded as a Lefty in the golf world, is known to have one of the most unique left-handed swings! It is his calm and composed nature that gives him the ability to make shots that most golfers would not even think about! The 54-year-old lives rent-free in the hearts of the golfing fans for his humanitarian efforts, both on and off the course!

  1. Greg Norman:

Greg Norman, who is currently the CEO of LIV Golf Investments, was a former Australian professional golfer on the PGA Tour. The 69 YO earned the title of the Great White Shark after his aggressive game at the Masters in 1981. Norman has a total of 88 professional wins in his career, which includes winning the Open Championship twice.

While these are some of the evergreen golfing legends, there are other modern phenoms, like Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau, Rory McIlroy, and others, currently writing history with their clubs and bombs.
