Adam Scott bagged his last win in February 2020 at the Genesis Invitational. He defeated Justin Rose in the Sunday round playoff and bagged a one-stroke victory. It has been practically more than four years since the 44 YO has lifted a trophy. However, looks like the hiatus might come to an end very soon.
The Australian player had a runner-up position in the opening round at the Castle Pines Golf Club, after carding 4-under 68. The Friday round was the game-changer for Adam Scott. He opened the round with a birdie and went completely bogey-free. Scott carded nine birdies and bagged an impressive score of 9-under 63. This is also his best performance so far in the 2024 season.
Will Adam Scott be able to win the FedEx Cup?
He played for the first time in the course in Colorado as a 20 YO on a sponsor exemption. It was his first regular PGA Tour event. His aim currently is to make it to the Tour Championship and win the FedEx Cup Player of the Year Award. Scott is currently in the 4th position with 1225 points, a whopping 5308 points away from No. 1 Scottie Scheffler.
If he continues his momentum and bags the win at the BMW Championship tomorrow, the Australian player will get an account of 2000 FedEx Cup points against his name. This will make his score 3225. But the sad part? His win will only be the penultimate event of the players because even if he ends up winning both events, he still will not be able to beat Scheffler in the standings.
