PGA Commissioner Jay Monahan Announces The Search For A New CEO For the Tour

The PGA Tour just does not seem to stop! There have been several new changes to the list. Most of them were to be implemented from the 2026 season. From having lesser field sizes to giving out fewer PGA Tour cards, a lot of the new rules created chaos in the golf world.

The most notable change announced was the Monday Qualifier reduction from 2026. This left the golf community completely enraged. So much so that they even claimed that Jay Monahan should retire.

But why did they come up with such a harsh verdict? Well, as it turns out, according to the golf community, Jay Monahan has been focusing on everything except for the things that should be on the priority list.

Will Jay Monahan truly retire?

A merger between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour was announced in July 2023 and had a deadline of December 31, 2023, to come into action. It has been almost a year since the deadline, yet no action has been taken against it under the leadership of Jay Monahan.

He has been so laid back that despite all of this, the DP World Tour and the Breakaway League already have a merger. But as it turns out, those were just criticism, but the Tour might be looking for a replacement. At least that’s what the recent news says.

On Tuesday morning, PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan shared a video across the organization’s social media platforms, announcing that the Tour is beginning the search for a new Chief Executive Officer to join its leadership team.

“We’re bringing new perspectives onto our team to realize the incredible opportunities ahead for our sport,” Monahan said. “We can learn so much from the world of sport and entertainment, and I’m excited to meet candidates for this important new role.

Monahan will remain in his position as Commissioner and will continue to serve on the newly formed PGA Tour Enterprises board, a for-profit entity. This announcement comes at a pivotal time for the Tour, as it negotiates a potential deal with the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), the backer of LIV Golf.
